During 2022, 117 HIV/AIDS cases were reported in Madiun city

MADIUN, KOMPAS.com – The Madiun City Government through the Office of Health, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinkes PPKB) disclosed, during 2022, that there were 117 new HIV/AIDS cases.

Of that number, not all are residents of Madiun city.

“There are also those from outside the region,” Madiun Denik Wuryani city PPKB city health bureau chief said at an HIV/AIDS seminar and advocacy commemorating World AIDS Day in the Wisma Haji Madiun city, Thursday (1/12 /2022), quoted by Between.

Overall, Madiun City PPKB Health Bureau currently cares for 300 people living with HIV/AIDS (ODHA).

“We do not discriminate between patients from Madiun city or outside the area. Everyone gets the same treatment and treatment,” he said.

In order to reduce the cases of HIV/AIDS transmission, the Madiun City PPKB Health Bureau is organizing intensive prevention programs by conducting regular community outreach activities. Especially those who are at high risk.

Apart from this, the socialization is also targeting the teenagers of Madiun City to try and prevent the transmission and not fall into negative activities that cause the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The HIV/AIDS Advocacy Workshop in Commemoration of World AIDS Day was virtually opened by the mayor of Madiun Maidi who was out of town.

Maidi called on all parties to use the momentum to commemorate World AIDS Day to increase HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and better management in the city of Madiun.

“Both in terms of prevention and treatment for patients. Prevention and treatment need to be better,” he said.

Community organizations, health cadres, NGOs supporting AIDS prevention, and youth organizations from Madiun city were also present.
