President Duque announced that he will present the bill to Congress, with a message of urgency, so that the Formal Employment Support Program (Paef) can be extended until December of this year.

In this way, the Program, designed to serve 40% of the legal minimum wage in force for workers in micro, small, medium and large companies for four months to meet the urgency of the crisis caused by covid-19, will be strengthened and will have cover until the end of the year.

“We will do it with the purpose of extending this protection to micro, small, medium and large companies, this important reactivation stage, which we have to materialize by the end of the year”, the president maintained in the Prevention and Action program, which is broadcast every day by public media.

The president added that in this way the program “would be historic in the country” because they would be covering that subsidy for eight months. “Never before has a government assumed a challenge of such magnitude in the social sphere that is complemented by other initiatives such as Solidarity Income and VAT refunds”, he pointed out.

Duque also anticipated what will be the ‘Commitment for Colombia’, which is the name of the economic reactivation program that he presented to the country in order to advance after the crisis generated by the covid-19.

It consists of the way to reactivate to face the pandemic, that is, a commitment to employment, public, private, public-private investments in infrastructure, in airports and in ports with an acceleration in the projects in execution.

We are talking about more than 50 infrastructure projects, finishing 28 projects in this Government in an accelerated way and practically leaving contracted and in execution 22 projects that are going to transcend for the country improving competitiveness and generating jobs, “explained the president.

This plan has four approaches: employment, clean growth, vulnerable population and support to the countryside are the axes of the program.

One of the most outstanding is the commitment to job creation. This program includes the entrepreneurship law that will benefit micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which generate 90 percent of jobs.
