Duel of summer hits: Regi equals record ‘Zoutelande’, TikTo …

A week after the Radio 2 Zomerhit, Regi (44) gives another feather in its hat with ‘Come a bit closer’: he equals the record of ‘Zoutelande’ in the Flemish Ultratop. But TikTok hit ‘Jerusalema’ is competing for the ultimate summer hit of 2020. The South African earwig jumps to number one in the general charts this week.

After 23 weeks, Regi Penxten is still unapproachable in the Flemish Ultratop 50. At the end of March he stormed with his Love for music cover Come a little closer entered the list and immediately took first place. Since then he has persisted convincingly. This week, for example, he sets foot next to Bløf and Geike Arnaert, who met Zoutelande stood on the top scaffold for as long.

Already does Come a little closer even that little bit better: while Zoutelande needed a few breaks, Regi has been camping on one all the time. Next week he can only pocket the record. After his victory during the Radio 2 Zomerhit and the status of double platinum – good for more than 40,000 singles sold – it would again be a strong punch from the Limburg DJ. Not to mention that Come a little closer has also been on top for nine weeks in the international Ultratop of Belgium.

But in the meantime, another clapper is gnawing at Regi’s throne as king of the summer. The South African hit Jerusalem Master KG makes a big jump in the general charts this week: from 8th place to 1. So also Regi, which has now dropped to 5th place. Jerusalem this makes it only the fifth number 1 hit of 2020. That previously only succeeded Tones and I with Dance monkey, The Weeknd met Blinding lights, Jason Derulo met Savage love and… Regi with Come a little closer.
