It’s like everywhere. After the first week of training, there is no criticism anywhere, everything is still fine. It’s no different at KFC Uerdingen, of course. However, coach Alexander Voigt knows the business and keeps the ball flat. “The first few days were for getting to know each other,” he says. “In the course of the week we improved a bit, so that on Friday it actually felt like preparation.” The coach is still waiting eagerly for the results of the first performance test. “It looked quite good, but let’s wait and see the values.”

Two players were not on the field in the Oppum sports park in the first week of training: Babacar M’Bengue and Alexander Lipinski. The latter was still on the ball with Oberliga club 1. FC Bocholt two weeks ago and was therefore given a few vacation days. And M’Bengue healed his overworked muscles. Coach Alexander Voigt was satisfied with the level of training: “Kevin Weggen, Pascale Talarski and Maik Odenthal showed the experience, the clarity in the passing game.” There was a lack in these areas last season.

Regional league relegated KFC Uerdingen is feeling vice champion Preussen Munster on the tooth today. The test match between the two traditional clubs kicks off at 4.30 p.m. in Südlohn and is the highlight of the inauguration celebrations for the new Sports Campus there. Is the test too early? “If we weren’t playing there, we would be training,” replies coach Voigt. “Of course, they are good opponents who will demand everything from us.” The KFC will compete with two teams, because every player should have the opportunity to show himself for 45 minutes – including the tryouts. However, one of the three goalkeepers must watch. “Yes, he can go next time,” says Voigt and laughs.
