Compensation by goalkeeper mistake
The 1.FC Lokomotive Leipzig has awarded a sure victory in the promotion league to the 3rd league against SC Verl. The Saxons came after a bad goalkeeper blunder against the team from North Rhine-Westphalia only 2: 2 (1: 1). It is still unclear when and where the second leg will take place in the Gütersloh district due to the coronavirus pandemic. Until shortly before the final whistle, everything looked like a Leipzig first leg success. But then locomotive keeper Fabian Guderitz put a high ball in the net.
The hosts immediately took the first chance to take the lead, after a cross from Maik Salewski Patrick Wolf (6th minute) pushed in on the long post. Immediately before the change, the guests from Verl equalized thanks to Patrick Schikowski (45. + 1). Matthias Steinborn (55.), who came on after the break, met again for the Leipzig lead before the otherwise strong goalkeeper Guderitz failed.
The relegation second leg, originally scheduled for June 30 in Verl, was canceled last Tuesday due to strict corona restrictions in the Gütersloh district. The SC Verl club site is only around 15 kilometers from the Tönnies slaughterhouse site in Rheda-Wiedenbruck. No decision has yet been made as to when and where the second leg will take place. Verl’s club president Raimund Bertels urges the German Football Association (DFB) to find a quick solution.
