Due to the spread of Covid-19, the day hospital and trauma center of Saulkrasti Hospital is being closed

On October 28, a large-scale spread of Covid-19 virus was detected at Saulkrasti Hospital, as a result of which at least 26 people, including 10 employees, have been infected. According to Santa Ancāne, a member of the board of PSIA “Saulkrasti Hospital”, in response to this emergency situation, decisions have been made to close the day hospital and trauma center from October 29 to November 9.

According to Saulkrasti municipality, in order to provide services to other people who need medical care or consultations, observing all safety measures, the Saulkrasti polyclinic will continue to operate, where family doctors and specialist doctors will be admitted according to the previous appointment.

The hospital management has identified most of the contacts who are asked to take the Covid-19 test in cooperation with the Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Patients who have visited Saulkrasti Hospital’s trauma center or surgeon’s consultations in the period from 23 to 26 October are especially invited to apply. Due to the variety of services, Saulkrasti Hospital has had a very large flow of clients, which has probably been the main reason why the hospital is exposed to special risks, according to the county council. Despite the safety measures taken by the hospital in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health and the National Health Service, the decision to perform Covid-19 tests on all staff and all patients was made after receiving information about one Social Care home client becoming infected.
