Out of 136 voting members, 127 have now arrived, so the congress is legitimate and quorate.

The Congress “Elektrum” in the big hall of the Olympic Center was to start at 12 o’clock, but its beginning was postponed by at least half an hour. Registration for the congress began at 11 a.m., but not all delegates were able to register within an hour.

The congress will be broadcast live by the channel “Sportacentrs.com TV”.

The congress is held in accordance with the rules of social distance – an area of about four square meters is provided for its visitors.

Two candidates are applying for the position of the President of LFF – the President of the Latvian Indoor Football Association Vadim Lashenko and the Minister of the Interior Sandis Ģirģens (KPV LV).

Sergei Kovalev, Olaf Pulk and Vladimir Steinberg will apply for two positions of vice president. Meanwhile, Anastasija Kučinska, Guntars Indriksons, Jānis Engelis, Andis Rozītis, Emīls Latkovskis, Jānis Apse, Nauris Mackevičs and Viktorija Mihaļčuka will compete for six seats on the LFF board.

According to the Articles of Association, the election of the President and Vice-Presidents of the LFF requires a majority of valid votes (more than 50%).

The candidate who obtains the most votes (but more than 50%) in respect of the vacancies shall be elected to the positions of the other members of the Board, including the election of candidates for the position reserved for women. If there are vacancies on the board after the first round of elections, another round of elections is organized. If none of the candidates obtains more than 50% of the votes, the relevant position on the Board shall be considered vacant.

The election congress was scheduled for April 24, but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the LFF Extraordinary Congress last October, members decided to remove Kaspars Gorkš, President of the organization. 67 members voted in favor of his suspension, 60 against and two abstained.

Gorkš was elected LFF president last year for two years, replacing Guntis Indriksons. At that time, the former Latvian indoor football player Lashenko and Krišjānis Kļaviņš also applied for the position of president.

Currently, the organization works without a president, but LFF Secretary General Edgars Pukinsk has the right to sign.

So far, LFF has been run by four people. From 1990 to 1995, the president of the organization was Vladimir Leskov, from 1995 to 1996 the organization was headed by Modris Supe, since 1996 Indrikson has been the president of LFF, resigning in 2018, when LFF members elected Gorkš to this position.
