Among the most successful Chinese clones of recent times is the “Africa Twin 500”Hengjian Dahaidao.
The latest in the series comes from Moxiao Motor and will go on sale in a few weeks, it is the 500RR and it is yet another Chinese copy of a Ducati Panigale.
The strategy is now widespread: offer the local market models copied from fascinating motorcycles of prestigious brands, but at five or six times lower prices.
As in the case of the Dahaidao-Africa Twin, the Moxiao 500RR is equipped with the engine Loncin KE500 (the same as the VOGE for sale in Italy), a 471 cc double shaft and eight valves from 48 cavalli at 8,500 rpm and with a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 7,000.
The bike doesn’t just have photocopied aesthetics from the Panigale and identical graphics Ducati, sorry, Moxiao Motor; but also technically it takes up the solutions where these are visible.
They are in fact identical to the swingarm monobraccio and the rear lateral suspension complete with progressive kinematics and shock absorber with yellow spring and protective bulkhead, as well as the style of the inverted fork and the double 320 mm disc brake with radial calipers.
The tires are also oversized – but the eye wants its part – with 120/70 and 190/55 sections. The saddle is 790 mm high from the ground and the weight is 196 kg dry.
In short, little imagination but a simple recipe to impress an audience used to buying copies of all kinds, especially in the absence of an authentic Ducati Panigale for less than 4,000 euros …
