Duane Reade thief in Manhattan attacks workers with a bicycle lock

The man robbed a Duane Reade and then assaulted two women.

New York police are searching for a man who robbed a Duane Reade store in the Chelsea section of Manhattan. and then returned to attack two workers in the store with a chain and bicycle lock.

On May 31 around 1:40 in the afternoon, man entered store at 777 6th Avenue and left without paying approximately $1,745 in merchandise, as confirmed by the police. Before leaving, the man threatened to harm the employees behind the counter.

Approximately 10 minutes later, he returned with the large chain, got behind the counter and spun it around, and began beating a 42-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman.

The suspect left the store after the assault. The victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital with cuts and swelling on various parts of their bodies.

Police described the man as dark-skinned, approximately 42 to 47 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans, white sneakers, and a baseball cap.
