One of the “social” features of PS5 requires the console to record a short video of the moment you unlock a trophy, so as to allow you to share the achievement online or to show other players how to get the same result. The console, however, is not limited to to record what happens on the screen, but also activates the controller microphone DualSense and records all the sounds it is able to steal: so be careful what you say!
What can happen is that an epic moment, like the one experienced by this Demon’s Souls neophyte, can be ruined forever by a said fool. Or worse, some annoying noise produced by your body or those around you.
First time Souls player. I didn’t realise that the PS5 records your microphone’s audio whenever you get a trophy. Whoops. from r/PS5
Obviously Sony has already foreseen a way to limit this “intrusion” by the microphone in the options menu, but by default this feature is activated, so you have to be pretty careful.
Furthermore, in an emergency, you can always use the activation key or mute the microphone located between the speaker and the PlayStation button of the DualSense controller. This way you can simply censor the recorded audio so as to prevent the microphone from recording unwanted noises.
What do you think of this kind of functionality?
