DTOP and ACT announce the closure of several roads in Guaynabo from tomorrow

The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) and the Highway and Transportation Authority (ACT) announced this Sunday the temporary closure of several traffic routes from tomorrow due to carrying out various rehabilitation works in various sectors of Guaynabo.

From this Monday, June 1, starting at 7:00 a.m. and until the afternoon, rehabilitation work will be carried out at exit number 5 of the Rafael Martínez Nadal expressway (PR-20) towards PR-199, kilometer 5.6, in the direction of Caguas to San Juan. The works consist of the restoration of the paving slab. The works will not obstruct the lanes of the PR-20 express, which will remain open.

Drivers must deviate from exit number 6 of the PR-20, at kilometer 7.1, located before the Guaynabo Toll Plaza, Piedras Blancas Sector. Users who go to the urban center of Guaynabo, can take David Urbina Avenue. Meanwhile, drivers transiting to PR-199, in the direction of Los Paseos, can use Calle Unión, and then Calle Ingeniero Jaime Rodríguez until they join PR-199.

Likewise, it was reported that rehabilitation works will be carried out on the bridges of the marginals of the Martínez Nadal express, at the height of the Tren Urbano and Altamira area, between kilometers 2.2 to 1.9, in both directions. These works will begin on Tuesday, June 2, from 7:00 a.m., and will conclude on Saturday, June 6, in the afternoon. These tasks involve the temporary closure of a lane and the walk in both directions of the road.

Through these works, the paving slab of these bridges will be restored. The work will begin with the closure of the right lane and walk on the bridges. Once completed, they will start with the left lane and ride. The engineer stressed that one lane will always remain available to traffic.

Finally, pavement rehabilitation works were announced in the cPR-837 rides, between kilometers 4.3 to 4.8 in Guaynabo, starting this Monday, at 7:00 in the morning. These will conclude on Tuesday, June 2, in the afternoon. The work will entail the temporary closure of the lanes in both directions.

The rehabilitation works will consist of scarifying and depositing surface asphalt. These works are part of the rehabilitation project for highways PR-835, PR-837 and PR-8834 in Guaynabo.

There will be a detour at kilometer 2.5, where the “As de Oro” rubber band is., for drivers traveling from north to south. A one-way lane will be kept available for local traffic while work lasts, said ACT executive director Rosana M. Aguilar Zapata.

The official urged drivers who transit through these areas to be alert to signs and other traffic control, security and orientation devices. In addition, he requested an indulgence for the inconvenience that these measures may cause.
