DSV officially takes over Agility GIL in Germany

Since January 1, 2022, the Danish transport and logistics service provider DSV has officially managed the business of Agility Global Integrated Logistics (GIL) in Germany after the merger that has already taken place on a global level.

Following the purchase of Agility’s Global Integrated Logistics (GIL) business by DSV A/S in August 2021 and the global transfer to the holding company, the German companies have now also legally merged. DSV is represented in Germany with three divisions, which are divided into the business areas air and sea freight (DSV Air & Sea), land transport (DSV Road) and contract logistics (DSV Solutions) – this proven structure will be continued under the current management. Frank Sobotka, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea Germany GmbH, Peter Fog-Petersen, Managing Director of DSV Road GmbH, Bart Peeters, Managing Director of DSV Solutions GmbH and Nicolai Knudsen, Managing Director of Finance, form the management quartet of the German DSV Group.

Stronger network and improved service offerings
In Germany, DSV will achieve greater nationwide coverage as a result of the merger. In the future, the DSV Road Division will operate six new locations in Düsseldorf, Hanover, Potsdam, Leipzig, Mannheim and Fulda and will significantly improve its national infrastructure. In Düsseldorf, local customers are offered the handling of national part and full loads as well as general cargo shipments. At 3,600 m², the transhipment hall there offers sufficient space for goods handling and order picking. The new Road branches in Fulda, Potsdam, Leipzig, Mannheim and Hanover offer international transport. In the Lower Saxony state capital, DSV Road is also taking over a 2,500 m² transhipment warehouse. In the future, some new locations are also to be integrated into the national general cargo network.

The DSV Air & Sea division also continues to grow and expands at numerous German locations. In particular, existing branches in economically strong regions such as Hamburg, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Leipzig will be significantly expanded. In addition, there is extensive customer and volume growth in important major customer segments such as automotive, high-tech and consumer goods. Domestic sea freight is also being strengthened. By handling LCL import shipments in Düsseldorf, DSV Air & Sea intends to get even closer to its customers in the Rhine-Ruhr area.

In the area of warehouse logistics, there is also an expansion of capacities. The previous Agility GIL logistics center in Düsseldorf complements the portfolio of the DSV Solutions division with 15,700 m² of storage space and ensures broader coverage in the region. The division is additionally strengthened by the business area Fairs & Events with offices in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Leipzig.

Global Growth
On a global level, the acquisition of Agility GIL has made DSV one of the world’s three leading transport and logistics companies with around 75,000 employees in more than 90 countries. Much of the Agility GIL business will be transferred to DSV’s air and sea freight division. In addition, Agility GIL has a strong presence in APAC and the Middle East, expanding the Danish logistician’s global presence. With a storage capacity of 1.4 million m², Agility GIL complements DSV Solutions’ capacities, while land transport activities in Europe and the Middle East will strengthen the DSV Road network.
