An apparently drunk man stabbed a couple last night outside an East Village (NYC) restaurant, after arguing with workers who refused to serve him..
The man approached the restaurant “The Black Ant” on 2nd Avenue demanding a drink, but began to argue with the restaurant employees after he was apparently rejected because they were already closing and was also intoxicated.
When the young couple tried to intervene, the drunk man attacked them, a witness said.
Later, one of the victims was identified as actress Spencer Grammer, daughter of fellow actor Kelsey Grammer, award winner Tony (2016) as a music producer, and various Emmy, mostly for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in comedy Frasier, derived from Cheers.
Chaos erupted around 11:30 pm at the establishment, when the man tried to get a table, but was turned down. The frustrated client began fighting with employees and several diners, including Grammer, 36, and his friend Jan Phillip Mueller (31).
Both bravely confronted the drunkard wielding a knife and then attacked them, sources told the New York Post.
“They all jumped out of their seats. About 15 people maybe. They were all trying to separate them, ”said one witness. “It was a complete fight.”
When the police arrived about a minute later the attacker, described as a bald and well-dressed man, had fled down 3rd St.
The assailant cut Grammer in the right forearm and Mueller in the back. Both were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where they have already been discharged, police said.
