Druivenkoers – watched live at Sporza – also calls for people to stay at home | Cycling

At the 60th edition of the Druivenkoers in Overijse, as little public as possible will be allowed on Saturday 29 August. By analogy with other races, no cycling fans are welcome at the start and finish zone.

The organizers and the mayor of Overijse, Inge Lenseclaes, also do not want to allow spectators on the slopes. Anyone who posts at other places along the course must wear a mouth mask.

“The riders in Overijse also get the chance to make up for a part of their cycling season”, says mayor Lenseclaes. “That is only possible if the supporters follow the strict measures. Stay at home and follow the course.”

“If you live along the course, you can certainly support, but this year with a mouth mask and sufficient distance. The Druivenkoers in 2020 will not be a popular festival like other years, but a spectacle via live stream.”

During the Druivenkoers the riders will climb the Brusselsesteenweg, Holstheide, Smeysberg, Bollestraat and the Schavei.

Last year, the victory in the Druivenkoers went to the Dutchman Arvid de Kleyn. The final can be viewed on sporza.be and in our app from 4 pm.
