‘Drug boss’ Frank Lammers: ‘It is difficult that we have success with a series about drugs’ | Stars

And in contrast to his alter ego Ferry, ecstasy cannot exactly appeal to the Brabant actor. “A lot of people use it in public, but then I get hyper depressed and nauseous. The only time I liked it, I was home alone. Then I watched the Discovery Channel, a show about sharks. But the day after, you’re so depressed.”

entertainment">The fact that the Netherlands is seen as the center of the European drug market is therefore an achievement to Lammers not exactly proud of. “It’s always nice to be the best at something, but maybe this isn’t so good. Drugs suck. I also find it quite difficult that we have success with a series about drugs, when that stuff causes a lot of trouble. Every now and then I try to do something for the police and other emergency workers, to ease my feelings of guilt.”

entertainment">Another popular series that focuses on drugs and violence is Mocro Mafia. After the Videoland hit was nominated for a Gouden Televizier-Ring, which it did not win, there was a lot of criticism. The series, mainly about Moroccan drug criminals, is said to glorify violence. Nonsense, Lammers thinks. “Then people don’t look well. (…) Nothing is glorified at all, you don’t wish such a life on anyone. In Mocro Mafia it is also hard. There are casualties, everyone cheats on each other. You don’t watch a series like this with the idea: those people are very happy.”
