This turn of the year is simply different: what is allowed on New Year’s Eve and what is not

What is allowed is what you like? This does not apply in the corona pandemic. Especially not on New Year’s Eve. But the regulations in Saxony differ from region to region.

Dresden – What is allowed is what you like? That does not apply in the Corona-Pandemie. Especially not on New Year’s Eve. But the provisions are in Saxony regionally different. Ignorance does not protect one from punishment. So here are the most important rules.

Allowed: Sparklers are not a problem. But keep your distance! © [email protected]

To celebrate: Popping the corks is allowed, big New Year’s Eve parties are taboo. That works: Celebrate with a maximum of five people from two households, children up to 14 years are not counted. This applies to inside, but also to outside.

Firecrackers: Yes and no. Only the general ban on selling New Year’s Eve fireworks is uniformly regulated. To “blast away” rockets and bangers from last year is okay.

The municipalities regulate exceptions: In Leipzig no fireworks may be set off in the city center, the Ring, the Lindenauer Markt and at the Connewitzer Kreuz. In Dresden and Chemnitz there is a general ban on firecrackers, in Zwickau it is allowed.

Alcohol: Problematic because of the high number of infections. So better to toast! As before, there is a ban on alcohol for outside anyway. Toasting with juice or water, on the other hand, is not an issue even in public.

Going out: All restaurants stay closed. You can still go out, because the curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. does not apply on New Year’s Eve. Anyone who goes banging must wear a mask like everyone else and keep the minimum distance.

Visits: Yes, even if you live in Dresden and want to meet friends in Freiberg or in Cologne. The 15-kilometer radius only applies to shopping and sports. However, it is generally not recommended to “make big jumps”. If you want to go to Poland or the Czech Republic, you have to be in quarantine on the way back.

Nodules: Celebrations from six people and / or with more than two households costs 150 euros. Per person! The same applies to anyone who does not keep the minimum distance. For violations of the mask requirement, you have to shell out 60 euros.
