Dredging pontoon threatens to fall: marina currently closed … (Blankenberge)

Blankenberge –

In the marina of Blankenberge, a dredging pontoon threatens to fall. The port channel is closed.

The thing is located in the harbor channel, where dredging is currently still being done to counter the heavy silting. Currently, no boat can enter or leave the marina. This is therefore an unpleasant situation for recreational shipping. Many sailing boats are moored in the harbor of Blankenberge. “The port channel is closed for safety. The Maritime Rescue and Coordination Center sent a message to shipping. The shipping police are deployed for surveillance ”, says the Maritime Services and Coast Agency. There they are busy with the situation.

The pontoon is currently half tilted in the water. “The contractor and the rescue service are doing everything to get the situation under control. The cause is still unknown. There were no people on the pontoon, ”said AMDK. “There is still no insight into possible damage or impact on the dredging works. Material will be brought in from Ostend to be able to continue the dredging works. ”
