Moerbeke-Waas –
A fatal industrial accident occurred around noon on a construction site on Terweststraat in Moerbeke-Waas. A worker from a construction company fell down a narrow elevator shaft and did not survive the fall. The labor prosecutor is investigating the case.

The worker was working on a yard of an apartment complex. The circumstances are not yet clear, but the man made a fall of about six meters into a utility line shaft measuring 80 by 80 centimeters. The victim, a Portuguese man, landed unhappy and died instantly. The investigation is still ongoing, but initial findings show that there was no collective fall protection for the workers.
The emergency services rushed to the scene only on arrival to determine the death of the man.

The mosquito helicopter from Bruges was also called up for the incident, but was allowed to turn around before its arrival when it turned out that there was no longer any help for the victim.
