Drake Trades Rhymes for Refrigerator logic in “The Office Movers” Cameo
Toronto rapper Drake has briefly returned to his acting roots with a comedic appearance in the second season of Canadian streaming service Crave’s “The Office Movers.” The cameo, shared by Drake on Instagram on Thursday (November 6), features a hilariously absurd scene where his character dissects the multiple meanings of the word “guy.”
Before achieving international music stardom, Drake was known for his role on the television series “Degrassi.” His latest venture into acting highlights a continued connection to the canadian entertainment scene adn a playful willingness to poke fun at language and cultural nuances. “like, you guys have movers, but do you guys have guys, you know, like real guys?” Drake’s character asks in the clip, launching into a spiraling attempt to differentiate between movers and a more ambiguous definition of “guys.”
The scene escalates with Drake’s character questioning his own grasp of English. ”It’s not making sense to you? maybe I’m not even speaking english. I don’t know. Maybe I’m speaking Guyanese. Everything we use to live is made in Guywan. You understand what I’m saying? I’m losing it, bro.”
“The Office Movers” centers on two brothers navigating Toronto’s commercial office moving business, incorporating local slang and comedic situations. The show has already been renewed for a third season ahead of its Season 2 premiere on Friday (November 7).
Drake’s involvement stems from a friendship with the show’s creators, Jermaine “Jae” and Trevaunn “Trey” Richards, who previously collaborated with drake on his More Life album, appearing in sketches and samples. Justin Stockman, Vice President of Content Growth & Programming at Bell Media, described the series as “a hilarious slapstick comedy that also has some heart,” praising the creators’ “sharp, culture-savvy comedy.”
