It is currently waiting for the vaccination law: the draft from the Ministry of Health is not yet available. One point could change.
The revised draft law on compulsory vaccination should actually be sent to the opposition on Friday. After all, the law is to be discussed in Parliament’s Health Committee on Monday and passed by the National Council on Thursday.

As the Ministry of Health announced, the revised draft law will be available “promptly”. One is in this regard “on the right track,” it said.

Whether the schedule will hold up seems uncertain at the moment. Nobody in the coalition wanted to commit themselves, so the draft could be delayed into the weekend. Discussions are currently taking place at expert level with other clubs.
Age as the sticking point
As “Today” learned, there could still be changes to one point. And in terms of age. As the government has always emphasized, compulsory vaccination should apply from the age of 14. From this age you are also of criminal responsibility in Austria. But that could change in the draft law and be increased to 18 years. Thus, only unvaccinated adults would be affected by the penalties.
A decision only requires a simple majority, which the ÖVP and the Greens have in both the National and Federal Councils. Nevertheless, the coalition is trying to gain broader approval by involving the SPÖ and NEOS.
