Only 10% of COVID-19 patients in intensive care survive, said Dr. Georgri Mindov on BTV’s “This Morning”.

Half of them die in the first 48 hours and the mortality rate is very high. Mindov commented that the “Delta” variant is contagious and spreads very quickly and is more aggressive. In addition, there is a peak in children under 1 year. The beds for the children in the hospitals are insufficient, so more are yet to be revealed.

Mindov also said that there were very few vaccinated patients admitted to hospital. Across Sofia, there are 13 hospitalized patients with a completed vaccination cycle, and for the entire period there are only two patients who died with the vaccine, which is 0.05%.

Kovid zones do not work en masse. “For Sofia, about one or two zones are actually working. The others are not working, mostly due to lack of staff. We have an acute shortage of all kinds of specialists,” Mindov said.
