() For almost 35 years Andreas Kueckerbecker headed the LVR Academy for Mental Health on Kölner Strasse in Langenfeld. At the end of September, the 64-year-old will finish his active service in the LVR and for the educational work of employees of the LVR Clinical Network and the LVR Network for Corrective Educational Aids. The LVR reports it. On this occasion, the LVR Institute for Research and Education (IFuB) organized a symposium on the theme “Vocational Education as Transmission”. For the last time, in his capacity as head of the academy, Andreaskuchenbecker was able to discuss with colleagues and other experts new and proven ways of professional training in and for psychiatry.

Born in Dortmund, he studied social sciences at the Ruhr University of Bochum and at the same time completed his basic education studies at the University of Dortmund. He then worked as head psychotherapist for children and families in the child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy clinic at the Elisabeth Clinic in Dortmund, today’s LWL Clinic Dortmund-Elisabeth Clinic.

In 1988 he moved to the LVR in Düsseldorf to work as an educational consultant in the specialist department of the hospital network. In 2008 he finally took over the direction of the LVR Academy for Mental Health in Solingen. In 2021 the Academy joined the IFuB (Education Division) and moved to Langenfeld. Andreas Kuebecker also took over the technical direction of the education division and became a board member of the LVR Institute for Research and Education.

Andreas Kueckerbecker’s successor will be Dr. Carolin Schuster, Professor of Applied Social Psychology at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg. You officially take office on October 1st. The LVR Academy for Mental Health is the central educational institution of the LVR Clinical Networking and Curative Education Department. The tasks of the academy are professional training and staff development. The LVR Academy for Mental Health offers a diverse educational program on specialist and leadership topics in psychiatry. Together with the LVR Institute for Health Services Research (LVR-IFV), the Academy establishes the LVR Institute for Research and Imaging (LVR-IFuB).
