Sukadana (Lampost.co) – Case dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) continues to increase in East Lampung. As many as 36 residents have been infected with dengue fever since early January 2022.

Head of the East Lampung Health Service, Nanang Salman, asked residents to be alert to dengue fever. According to him, the rainy season in the local area is still continuing, it is even predicted that the peak of the rainy season with high intensity will last until February 2022.

Weather conditions plus a humid environment greatly support the breeding of mosquitoes that transmit dengue disease, namely Aedes aegypty. The development of these mosquitoes is also followed by the development of dengue disease attacks on residents,” he said, Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

According to him, dengue cases since the first week of January 2022 have continued to increase. As of Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 36 residents have been affected.

“The 36 Lamtim residents were attacked by dengue fever spread across 10 sub-districts, namely Purbolinggo with 14 people, Pekalongan (10). Then in Batanghari, Pasir Sakti, Sekampung, and North Raman sub-districts, two each. Then in Sekampung Uduk sub-district, Labuhan Maringgai, Marga Tiga and Way Jepara have one person each,” he said.

He reminded all residents to continue to increase vigilance by actively eradicating 3M plus mosquito nests (PSN), namely draining places that often become water reservoirs such as bathtubs, jugs, water towers, drums, and other water reservoirs.

Then tightly close water reservoirs such as bathtubs and drums and bury used items in the ground so as not to make the environment more dirty and potentially become mosquito nests.

Then reuse the waste of used goods that have economic value (recycling), which has the potential to become a breeding ground for dengue fever mosquitoes.

“Furthermore, the pluses are that it is a form of prevention, including keeping fish that eat mosquito larvae, using mosquito repellent, installing wire netting on windows and ventilation, working together to clean the environment, and putting used clothes in closed containers,” he said.
