Douglas chooses Würzburger Kickers and not Deventer

Former Twente defender Douglas goes to work at the second level of Germany. Würzburger Kickers has signed the Brazilian (32) for a season, with an option for an extra year.

Douglas worked hard for the last year on his return as a professional football player. Those efforts are now being rewarded.

After adventures abroad at Dinamo Moscow, Trabzonspor and Sporting Portugal and a nine-month doping suspension due to the use of a water pill, Douglas’s career seemed to be over. But the defender himself always believed in a return to the fields.

Practice match

Douglas belonged to the FC Twente team that became champion of the Netherlands ten years ago. The then assistant coach Kees van Wonderen recently offered him the opportunity to train at his new club Go Ahead Eagles. Douglas even participated in a practice match against Telstar.
