Ontario deplores the death of 45 people from the coronavirus on Friday.

In all of the province, 3,916 Ontarians have lost their lives to COVID-19, including 2,460 residents of long-term care homes and eight employees of these facilities.

Ontario’s public health is also reporting 1,848 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to more than 136,000 since January 2020.

The province performed a record number of nearly 63,100 tests for COVID-19 on Thursday.

The regions of Toronto, Peel, York and Windsor-Essex are currently the most affected by the transmission of the virus.

As of Thursday, 235 people with the coronavirus were hospitalized, including 235 patients in intensive care. Of these, 124 were on a ventilator.

The cure rate is currently 85.2% in the province.
