Doom on the pregnancy test! Surprising recording

There is one game that someone should give a Guinness Record for carrying it to an absolutely insane number of non-gaming devices. That title is Doom. The classic id software from 1993 has been “converted” on cameras, ATMs or calculators. So someone decided it was time for a pregnancy test.

Twitter user @Foone on September 5, 2020 published an interesting video in which using the digital pregnancy test Equate displayed Doom on his screen. The accessory has an OLED display with a resolution of 128 x 32 pixels.

The owner of the test was concerned that the device (with a color depth of 1 bpp – bits per pixel) would not have sufficient data transfer capacity to display a constantly refreshed image.

The digital pregnancy test device is technically unable to run Doom, but it can play back a video of your gameplay. However, @foone (calling himself the “hardware necromancer”) suggested that playing Doom on the pregnancy test stick was a matter of time.

The interest in this unusual discovery was so great that soon the well-known Twitter gadget fighter found a way to play Doom on an accessory with a keyboard connected to control it.

He posted the video on Twitter on September 7, 2020, two days after the initial discovery of the possibility of a pregnancy test. The only drawback is that with the monochromatic color palette, you don’t see much detail. However, this is an amazing achievement!

We are very curious to see what the next Doom device will “hit” next. Last year, one of them managed to play a game on … at the counter at McDonald’s.
