Don’t Wake Me Up Another Dream!

Jakarta

Suzuki is very happy with the slick performance of the two riders after the draw European MotoGP, Sunday (9/11). Joan Mir and Alex Rins are getting closer to the 2020 MotoGP world title.

MotoGP 2020 is indeed full of surprises when Marc Marquez is on a long hiatus due to injury. Competition has become more wide open, including the presence of Joan Mir at the top of the standings at this time.

At the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Sunday (8/11/2020) evening WIB, Mir became the winner European MotoGP after devouring 27 rounds with a record time of 41 minutes 37.297 seconds.

With an additional 25 points, Me now controls the top position of the MotoGP standings with 162 points. He is 37 points ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins who are the closest competitors.

This is certainly a surprise considering that Suzuki has often lagged behind Honda, Yamaha or Ducati. Suzuki Ecstar team manager, Davide Brivio could not hide his happiness after Alex Rins-Joan Mir won the podium at Valencia.

“I can not ask for more than that. Do not wake me because I was dreaming. This is a historic season, we are proud. Now we want to finish this year well,” said Davide Brivio as quoted by Skysport.

Brivio’s happiness seemed natural, after Suzuki left MotoGP in 2011. Davide Brivio previously one of the architects for the success of Yamaha Motogp, was asked to fly the Suzuki flag again in 2015.

Using the inline 4 engine GSX-RR motorbike, the unloading of the riders continues, from Andrea Ianone, Aleix Espargaro, and Maverick Vinales to the uniform of this Hamamatsu manufacturer.

When compared to 2019, this 2020 season is a historic moment for Suzuki. At the end of the 2019 season, Rins finished in fourth place in the standings by a narrow margin (6 points) behind Vinales, who was ranked 3.While Mir was in 12th place with the best achievement in 5th place in Australia.

The 2020 season for the first time in 20 years, Suzuki riders lead the MotoGP standings. When Kenny Roberts, Jr. won the 500cc GP in 2000.

Davide Brivio hopes Suzuki can close the end of the season with the best results.

“We must be proud of the whole team, I hope this will be a year to finish well and be remembered,” he said.
