Don’t Use Scuba & Buff Masks in Public Areas

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Covid-19 Handling Task Force emphasized that it does not recommend the use of scuba or buff masks in a number of public facilities.

This was said by Wiku Adisasmito, spokesman for the Covid-19 Task Force at a press conference at the Presidential Office, the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (15/9/2020).

“This scuba mask is a one-layer mask and is too thin. So that the possibility of translucency and can not filter is greater. So it is advisable to use a quality mask,” said Wiku.

Wiku explained that the best masks to use are surgical masks for people who are sick and cloth masks made of cotton and have three layers for people who are not sick.

“Why? Because the ability to filter or filter virus particles will be better with more layers,” he said.

Wiku reminded that the use of scuba masks is often abused. Therefore, the government urges the public to really use masks in the right way.

Previously, PT Kereta Commuterline Indonesia (KCI) asked Electric Rail Train (KRL) users to avoid wearing scuba masks and buffs. Because this is only 5% effective in preventing the risk of exposure, dust, viruses and bacteria.
