Sacred scratch world champion, Thursday in Roubaix, Donavan Grondin was content with a place of honor, Saturday during the omnium (combined event which includes four races: scratch, tempo, elimination and points race). The Frenchman took seventh place.

Distanced halfway
Grondin had started off well, finishing second in the scratch. But he was then left behind during the tempo race (14th), losing most of his chances. Then the French rider finished second in elimination and eighth in the points race.

Briton Ethan Hayter is the new omnium world champion. He was crowned in front of New Zealander Aaron Gate and Italian Elia Viviani.
