Donald Trump, without press his nomination for Republican party

The Republican Party will hold a private convention this month, with no journalists in the room, to re-nominate the President of the United States, Donald Trump As his candidate for the elections, he declared a spokeswoman for the Republican National Convention, pointing to the coronavirus as a motive.

Although Trump canceled last month the public acts of the convention in FloridaNoting an increase in infections across the country, 336 delegates are scheduled to meet on August 24 in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a formal vote that would make Trump the party’s candidate again.

Nomination conventions are usually big media events where political parties try take advantage of the attention to spread your message to as many voters as possible. If the party’s decision is upheld, it would be the first party-nominating convention in the country’s modern history closed to the press.

“Given the sanitary restrictions and limitations in force in the state of North Carolina, we plan that the acts in Charlotte be closed to the press between Friday, August 21 and Monday, August 24, ”said a spokeswoman for the event on Saturday night. “We will be happy to inform you if this changes, but we are working with the parameters set by the state and local guidelines on the number of people who can attend events.”

The decision was first reported by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Privately, some Republican delegations have pointed out logistical problems in traveling to either city, given the growing number of jurisdictions imposing mandatory quarantines on travelers arriving from states with spikes in the virus.

The small group of delegates in Charlotte will vote on behalf of the more than 2,500 official convention delegates. The attendance of alternate delegates and guests has already been banned. The vote will be broadcast live.
