Donald Trump has reiterated his claim that Kamala Harris‘s presidential campaign illegally paid for celebrity endorsements, asserting that such payments are “ridiculous” and “totally illegal.”
In a statement posted on truth Social, Trump stated, “These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. it is indeed TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them.All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
This is not the first time Trump has made these accusations. In May, during a public exchange with Bruce Springsteen, Trump made similar claims.
At that time, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCE? … AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO???”
he further stated, “I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment. In addition, this was a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. IT’S NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic ‘entertainers,’ this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system.Thank you for your attention to the matter!!!”
FactCheck.Org has reported that there is “no evidence” to support the claim that the Harris campaign paid for celebrity endorsements.
