Donald Trump responds to conviction Weinstein: “Was never a fan of him” | NOW

In a reaction to Harvey Weinstein’s conviction, US President Donald Trump said he was “never a fan” of the fallen film producer.

“I knew him a little,” Trump said Deadline in India, where he visits Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others. “The Democrats were a fan of him. Michelle Obama was crazy about him. Hillary Clinton loved him.”

Trump, who is also accused by several women of sexual misconduct, further said that he did not know all the ins and outs of the case. “But for the women involved it is great news. For them it is a victory. This statement gives a very powerful message.”

According to Hillary Clinton, the condemnation of Weinstein speaks for itself. “People have followed this news because it was time for someone to be held responsible. The jury clearly agreed,” signed Variety out of the mouth of Clinton, who is currently in Berlin because a film series about her is premiered at the local film festival.

Weinstein donated money for Democrats campaigns

Weinstein was reportedly one of the biggest supporters of Hillary Clinton at the time she threw the presidency and donated some $ 1.4 million (nearly $ 1.3 million) for her campaign. Clinton is not afraid that it will be more difficult to win donations because of Weinstein in the future.

“He has given money to the campaigns of a lot of Democrats: Barack Obama, John Kerry, Al Gore, everyone,” said Clinton. “I don’t know if that should keep anyone else from contributing to political campaigns, but it should definitely put an end to the kind of behavior for which he was convicted.”

Weinstein was found guilty on Monday by two of the five indictments – assault and rape in the third degree (sex with a person without his or her consent, but not violently or part of a deliberate pattern) – and risk imprisonment of a maximum of 25 years.

He will hear his sentence on 11 March. An appeal has already been announced.
