Donald Trump – – A serious threat

President Donald Trump held another election campaign meeting on Saturday night, this time in Virginia.

Pictures from President Trump’s election campaign meeting in Newport News, a city in the state of Virginia, show that a large number of people showed up to hear the president speak.

Daily Press, a local newspaper in Virginia, writes that about 700 people stood in line from about four o’clock in the afternoon local time. The election rally began about five hours later. According to the news agency AP there must have been thousands of Trump supporters present. Many did not wear face masks.

“We will win Virginia, North Carolina and four more years in the White House,” Trump said, calling the upcoming election the most important in the country’s history.

Throughout the speech, the president suddenly refers to comedian and Fox presenter Greg Gutfeld, and says that the comedian used to be rude to him, but “now he’s kind to me.”

– He said “hey, would you rather have a kind guy who does nothing, or a terrible person like Trump, who gets things done”. They say they would rather have a terrible human being. I’m not a terrible person. I’m a nice guy. I always get very offended when they say; people may not like him, but he gets everything done. I think people like me, but I get things done.

Boasted of the crowd

The president boasted that many had turned up before hearing him speak.

– There is a large crowd, it goes all the way back to the hangar. There is a large crowd. I always say to the cameras, I do not want to bore people with this, but I encourage them to turn the cameras around and show the size of the audience. But they do not like to do it, including Fox, they do not like to show large crowds.

Prior to the meeting, the state health authorities described the meeting as “a serious public health threat” if it went as planned, according to AP. Both state and local people in the health service sounded the alarm about the election campaign meeting, writes The Washington Post.

Dr. Natasha Dwamena, district director of the State Department of Public Health, wrote in a letter Thursday that 4,000 attendees were expected to attend the meeting, which took place at the city’s airport.

If the meeting became so large, it would break Governor Ralph Northam’s order, which generally bans gatherings of more than 250 people. According to the AP, Dwamena argued that the event should have been canceled, relocated or scaled down, so that the meeting did not break with the governor’s order.

– The election campaign meeting poses a danger to public health, Dwamena wrote in the letter, which was addressed to the private company that rents out the hangar where the event takes place.

Samantha Cotten, regional spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, has not responded to a Washington Post request. Both Cotten and another spokesperson did not want to comment on the size of the meeting, the newspaper writes.

Towards Biden

During the speech, Trump stabbed Democrats in general, billionaire Michael Bloomberg (who in March withdrew from the Democrats’ nomination battle), Democratic leader of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, former President Barack Obama, the party’s Vice Presidential candidate Kamela Harris and of course Presidential candidate Joe Biden.

– How can we let Joe Biden represent this country, he said and the audience bowed.

– This guy takes more days off than… You must have a president who works his ass off for this country, Trump continued.

Trump further said that he thought Biden would do well in the upcoming presidential debate between the two.

– He has been doing it for 47 years. And we know, if he does it right, the “fake news” will say that it was one of the best debates in history.

Furthermore, the president, whom he often talks about, promises law and order in the country.

– Joe Biden is weak, he handed over his party to flag-burners, mobs, anti-police anarchists, the radicals. All the people running around the democratic cities and states, Trump said.

Ridiculed governor

On Friday, it was announced that Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and his wife have tested positive for the coronavirus. Northam has no symptoms, while his wife has mild symptoms, according to one press release from the governor’s office.

That did not stop Trump from reaching out to the Democratic governor either.

“You have a governor who thinks he’s Michael Jackson,” Trump said, continuing:

– Sometimes he thought, when he was young, that he looked like Michael Jackson. I do not think so. He wanted to moonwalk across the stage and his wife said “no, do not”. “I wish I had seen it, it would not have been nice,” Trump said to laughter among the audience.

In 2019, there was an uproar around the governor, when he had to go out and deny that he was one of two people depicted in a yearbook from the 80s. The image in question was of one person in a “blackface”, while the other person was wearing a Ku Klux Klan cloak. Northam said he was sure he was not pictured here because he remembered that only once in his life had he darkened his skin, according to USA Today.

– The same year I participated in a dance competition in San Antonio, where I darkened my face as part of a Michael Jackson costume, he said and emphasized that he regretted this.

– Endangers life

The United States is hard hit by the corona pandemic. At the time of writing, the United States has over 7 million registered infections and over 203,000 deaths due to the virus. But President Trump has on a number of occasions held meetings where infection control seemed to be a low priority. It has repeatedly attracted attention that participants stand or sit close together, in many cases did not wear most of the bandages.

For example, it is barely two weeks ago The president was in Nevada to campaign. Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak was particularly critical of the huge indoor event in Las Vegas. Many thousands of people were gathered indoors, without bandages and without much social distancing.

“Tonight, President Donald Trump is acting irresponsibly and selfishly and endangering countless lives here in Nevada,” Sisolak wrote. Twitter.

In a long line of messages, he explained how Trump defied the advice of both local and federal health authorities as well as local laws in Nevada.

Also when the president was to give his keynote address during the Republican National Convention, when he was to officially accept the nomination as the party’s presidential candidate, sat the audience close together. Few wore face masks.
