Madrid After allegations by several women of sexual harassment and surviving corona infection, Opera Star has Placido Domingo made his stage comeback. The 79-year-old Spaniard appeared in the lead role of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” on Saturday evening in front of the Palace of Caserta not far from Naples. “In my whole life I have never spent so much time without singing,” said Domingo in an interview published on Sunday about the six-month break. The comeback in Italy was therefore “very moving” for him, he emphasized shortly before the performance. Domingo gave his last concert on February 19th in the small Opera Studio Beckmann in the Mexican community of Tequila. On March 22nd, he announced from Mexico that he had Covid. He was later told in Acapulco hospital that his condition was very bad. “If I had gone to the hospital just a day later, we don’t know whether I would have survived it.” In the interview, he emphasized again that his public apology in February to the alleged victims was wrongly interpreted as an admission of guilt. “As I have stated several times, I have never committed attacks.” As a public figure, you have “many friends, but also many enemies, I understood that too late”.
