Domestic violence: Salzburg police issued 657 entry bans in the previous year

Domestic violence increased significantly in the corona crisis with its lockdowns. Last year there were 159 more police entry bans in Salzburg than in 2019. The perpetrators are almost always male.

You torture your partner, hit her, threaten her with killing. Domestic violence – massively male-dominated – which has been rising steadily for years anyway, increased again in the corona year 2020. In the previous year, the police issued 657 entry and approach bans nationwide in accordance with Section 38a of the Security Police Act – an increase of 159 compared to 2019 (498). In 2018 there were 472 police bans against violent criminals – 90 to 95 percent of them are male.
