Contry Icon Dolly Parton Receives Prayer Requests as She Postpones Las Vegas Residency
Nashville, TN – Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, has publicly asked fans to offer prayers for the country music legend as she addresses ongoing health concerns that led to the postponement of her upcoming Las Vegas residency. The 79-year-old singer announced last week she would delay her six scheduled performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, originally set for December, until September of next year, citing a need for “a few procedures” and insufficient rehearsal time.
Freida Parton shared her concerns on Facebook, stating she spent the previous night “praying for my sister, Dolly,” and acknowledging her sister “hasn’t been feeling her best lately.” She expressed strong faith in the power of prayer, urging “all the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.” Despite the health challenges, Freida remained optimistic, adding, ”She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed,my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Parton recently faced a health scare involving a kidney stone that caused “a lot of problems,” forcing her to withdraw from a Dollywood event. The postponement follows a difficult year for the singer, who mourned the loss of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, earlier in 2023, and subsequently dedicated a new song, “If You Hadn’t been There,” to his memory.
The Las Vegas residency would have marked Parton’s first performance on the Strip as the 1990s, when she shared the stage with her duet partner, Kenny Rogers. Parton has achieved widespread recognition for her numerous country crossover hits, including “Coat of Many Colors,” “I Will Always Love You,” “9 To 5,” and “Jolene.”
