Aylesham Woman Banned From Keeping Animals ⁤After Starving Dogs

AYLESHAM, Kent – An Aylesham woman has been banned‌ from keeping animals for five years after admitting⁢ to starving multiple dogs in‌ her care, resulting in the death of three of ⁤them. ⁢sarah Hodgson, of Dargate, appeared in court and received the ban alongside a £225 ⁢fine, a £90 victim surcharge, and a £450 contribution to costs.

The case highlights the severe consequences⁤ of animal neglect‍ and the RSPCA‘s ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable animals.Hodgson’s actions led to “severe starvation and resulting emaciation” in the dogs, ultimately proving fatal for Hooch, a ‌male dog, and two of the puppies. The remaining dogs were rescued and are now receiving care, with Skylar, the mother dog, and four puppies successfully rehomed.

RSPCA inspectors visited Hodgson’s property and found the scene littered with “wrappers, and rubbish.” When ⁣asked about dog food,‍ hodgson claimed ‌there was none left, stating the dogs had eaten it all. She also revealed she had locked Hooch in the bathroom,⁣ alleging he had eaten one of the puppies, and noted his visibly emaciated condition.

All the dogs were signed over to the RSPCA and a⁤ veterinary examination confirmed the extent of their suffering. In court, Hodgson stated she had been struggling with health issues and could not‍ afford to feed the ‌animals.

The RSPCA continues to investigate cases⁤ of animal cruelty and encourages anyone with ⁣concerns about animal welfare to report them to their ⁢national cruelty line on 0300 1234 999.
