Does the DualSense controller recognize “its player”?

PS5 DualSense controller may recognize its players by itself.

The coming Sony PlayStation 5 ended the reign of DualShock-Controller and makes a fresh start with DualSense. What about the PlayStation 3 did not work, should now with the PS5 function. And it looks like this controller has a far more advanced function than many gamers assumed. A patent filed in February describes that the PS5-Controller recognizes who is playing with him.

As would be expected, the patent describes this potential DualSense Controller Function with quite a bit of technical jargon. The jargon essentially boils down to this: The DualSense has one or more sensors. Whenever someone picks up the controller, these sensors send telemetry data to the PS5-Consolesso that it can identify the person who did the Controller holds.

This is likely to be Sony’s goal of adding extra security and privacy measures to the next generation console. The patent describes Sony’s knowledge of how PlayStation users tend to log into their own accounts every time they use a different PlayStation, as this allows them to use their own saved games and account-specific content.

In order to get into the account, the player may need to enter their private password in front of other potential people in the room. Otherwise, the user may forget to log out of the third-party PlayStation when they leave the PlayStation, preventing the console owner or anyone else from readily accessing the account information.

The back of the PS5’s DualSense controller looks pretty bare. Even so, the PlayStation 5 controller is said to have some interesting features.

PS5: Super Duper DualSense Controller recognizes its player by itself?

That mentioned DualSense-Controller-Patent would be the solution for that. If a player has the Controller he simply logs it into his own account. So you don’t have to enter your password. If the user has the Controller leaves and someone else his DualSense-Controller the other users’ accounts will be logged out of the PlayStation. In the current TV-Spot of the PS5 no one has heard of it yet.

While this feature is undoubtedly impressive, it only raises some privacy concerns about the information presented. It is not yet clear whether this function will even come about. Ultimately, this is just one Patent (PDF link). Although it sounds kind of damn interesting.

The Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) starts “Holiday 2020”. Just a few days ago, Sony gave the “all-clear” that the next generation console will definitely be released in 2020. So far, only Microsoft has confirmed November for its Xbox Series X. Sony owed us at least one month of launch. At least the launch titles are almost certain to be up on Demon’s Souls. The remake could also come at the launch of the Sony console. The price is just as puzzling as the release of the PS5. In the meantime, more and more screenshots are being shared from retailer sites that happened to be online for a short time. The German drugstore chain Müller offered the PlayStation 5 for 499 euros in pre-order on. We won’t know whether this was a placeholder until Sony mentions the price of the console.
