Researchers estimated the prevalence of infectious diseases among Japanese adults from 2005 to 2012. We studied the data of more than 48 thousand people.

Scientists have stated, that the development of infectious diseases – flu, pneumonia, hepatitis — increases the risk of developing cancer in the future.

Doctors discovered, that certain infections are closely associated with certain types of cancer. Moreover, the first were recorded in patients, who were diagnosed with oncology over the next six years.

for example, patients with pneumonia often developed stomach cancer, hepatitis – blood cancer, bones, brain, influenza – cancer of the male genital organs.

“Was found, what infection, organ afflicting, doesn’t necessarily correlate with an increased risk of developing cancer of the same organ, ”said Sinako Inaida, a researcher at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine.
