According to an English platform in which people register the symptoms of their disease, the five dominant symptoms in patients infected with the “Delta” version of COVID-19 are headache, runny nose, sneezing, cough and sore throat.
This is what the otoneurologist Assoc. Prof. Todor Shirov told in “Tazi Sutrin”. According to him, in unvaccinated people, however, the temperature is dominant, there is a sore throat and runny nose, but no sneezing.
“If vaccinated people start sneezing more than usual, it’s a good idea to get tested for COVID-19,” he explained.
According to Assoc. Prof. Shirov, however, there is still no accumulated clinical data on how the new “Omicron” version of the virus works and whether there is a difference in symptoms.

Assoc. Prof. Todor Shirov also commented on why patients should monitor their sense of smell after an illness.
Between 3 and 8% of people with COVID infection do not regain their sense of smell. “Even for months. It causes inflammatory reactions in the lining and perhaps these people are more prone to re-infection,” the doctor said.
Patients who have lost their sense of smell can help to return it by training their olfactory analyzer, as well as taking vitamins from groups A and E, but it is important not to do some things known in Bulgarian folk medicine.
“For example, people put garlic and onions in their noses, which they know are chasing viruses, but these are highly aggressive substances that damage the nasal mucosa,” warned Assoc. Prof. Shirov.
The doctor also said that in his practice he had not met a vaccinated patient with a totally lost sense of smell.
