Although we often interact with couriers, we think of them only as people who come and bring us packages. Many offer small sums as a reward, but few have probably thought about how difficult the working conditions are when you cycle through the city at extreme temperatures.

Even those from whom the couriers pick up the packages to deliver them later to the customers do not seem to think, although the temperatures have become hot, and offering someone a glass of water is a common gesture of humanity.

Posting a courier who makes deliveries by bicycle draws attention to the indifference with which they are treated.

The young man described how a day’s work goes, and his confession could make many people think and change the way we receive them:

“This is the courier’s bronze. Today it was 40 ° C in the shade in Bucharest, and among the cars, pollution and hot asphalt the air can become light unbreathable. A feeling of suffocation can strike you at any time, especially if you deliver a bicycle at lunchtime.

I think I picked up orders today from at least 20 different restaurants. Do you know how many of them I was asked if I needed a glass of cold water? Well, to none.

I know that it is not their obligation to provide us with water or anything else, but it would not hurt, out of common sense (where possible), for these restaurants to arrange special places for couriers when sometimes they have to wait even 15-20 minutes for order preparation. A small place where you can sit for 5 minutes and catch your breath until the order comes.

Most of the time, we courierswe are not welcomed in restaurants and we have to wait outside in the sun, rain or cold for orders, so as not to disturb customers.

The places of parking for bicycles I don’t even talk anymore, as long as the authorities are not able to do anything for cyclists either.

I do not publish this post to complain, but I do it in the way that I am somewhat amazed by the indifference with which we are treated, and at this rate, both Glovo, Bolt, Tazz, etc. they will slowly lose the most devoted and responsible couriers.

I know this is not their direct problem, but maybe even they (Glovo, Bolt, Tazz etc) could encourage a little restaurants partners to do something for couriers as well. I don’t think anyone impoverishes with a glass of water or a chair in a corner somewhere where the courier can breathe a little while waiting for products. On the contrary, it gives me a positive result for everyone:

Invigorated courier = Satisfied customer (shorter delivery times, courier disposition at delivery, etc. Restaurant partner / Delivery company .. win “, the young man wrote in a post on Facebook.
