When living under stressful conditions, the brain as well as the whole organism is working under pressure. So, if it is true that in small doses, stress and anxiety can help you be more alert and focused, when they become too intrusive the result is an altered condition of the mind which can lead, among other things, to poor memory.

An important fact that comes directly from science. In fact, there are several studies that have found a correlation between stress and memory loss. In particular, a study conducted some time ago at theBerkley University, had brought to light how the white matter that is found between the two hemispheres of the brain and which acts as a bridge between them, tends to shrink when under stress. Which, inevitably, also leads to memory problems.

A damage that should not be seen as permanent since the brain regenerates itself continuously but which if not taken in time can become the norm. The reason why, it’s always good to keep stress under control and try to limit it in all possible ways.

Unfortunately, as many know, it is not always easy to eliminate stress. Especially if this comes from situations that you can’t control like a boss or unbearable colleagues or a lack of money. It is also true, however, that staying still and watching your life go to pieces is not useful in any case. And for this reason it is preferable to take care of yourself by starting to work on all possible aspects such as:

  • Support yourself by taking notes and drawing up reminders for the most critical moments
  • Avoid plunging into new stressful situations
  • Attend people who are pleasant and who know how to brighten up the day
  • Playing sports
  • Eat in a healthy and balanced way
  • Meditate
  • Practicing an activity that helps you relax
  • Get more sleep
  • Talk to a therapist to learn how to better manage stressful situations

That said, it is good to remember that sometimes memory loss can also be a wake-up call for ailments of various kinds. In order not to take risks, therefore, it is advisable ask your doctor for help.
