Djokovic suffered a thigh injury during the semifinal match against Russian Daniil Medvedev and played through the final in pain. Arina Sabalenka of Belarus won the women’s singles.

This win will boost the Serbian player’s confidence as he aims for a tenth Australian Open tennis title starting on the 16th. If he wins in Melbourne, Djokovic will equal Rafael Nadal’s record (22 titles) for most Grand Slam wins in singles masculine.
