Djokovic brings Serbia alongside in the ATP Cup final by winning against Nadal | NOW

Novak Djokovic dealt with Rafael Nadal in a show on Sunday. With the victory of the number two in the world, Serbia comes in the final of the ATP Cup alongside Spain: 1-1.

32-year-old Djokovic had to win to keep the title chances for Serbia alive and that happened. After almost two hours of playing, 6-2 and 7-6 (4) were on the board in favor of the sixteen-time Grand Slam winner. It was the 55th time that the current numbers one and two of the world faced each other.

In the first set, Djokovic immediately struck Nadal’s service and he held onto that lead. The 33-year-old Spaniard then grew into the match and that led to a great fight. There were no breaks in the second set, but Djokovic could make the difference in the tiebreak: 7-4.

Due to Djokovic’s victory, it is 1-1 in the ATP Cup final between Serbia and Spain. Earlier Sunday, Roberto Bautista had already won Agut, the world’s number ten, against Dusan Lajovic (ATP-34): 7-5 and 6-1.

The double match must now decide who will win the first edition of the ATP Cup in Sydney. In it Djokovic takes on Viktor Troicki against Nadal and Pablo Carreño Busta.
