Divination of the Dead Sun and the Fate of Humans Who Inhabit Earth

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The age of the Sun is predicted to be 5 billion years from now. So what about our solar system after the sun dies? Chances are Earth will be hit but Jupiter is holding out.

This is the prediction of a number of astronomers published in the journal Nature using examples with similar events in other solar systems CNet, Friday (15/10/2021).

Astronomers discovered another solar system located near the center of the Milky Way through the WM Keck Observatory in Hawaii. There was found a white dwarf that died but there are Jupiter-like planets in Jupiter-like orbits that still exist.

“This evidence confirms that planets orbiting large enough distances can continue to exist after the death of their star,” said lead author Joshua Blackman, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Tasmania Australia.

“Given that this system is analogous to our own solar system, this suggests that Jupiter and Saturn may have survived the red giant phase of the Sun when it ran out of nuclear fuel and self-destructed.”

Our sun is expected to move through several phases when it dies. The sun will develop into a red giant, a phase that NASA describes as “the cruelest time in a star’s life.” At that time the Earth will become uninhabitable and will most likely be destroyed.

Next, the Sun will settle in the form of a white dwarf as a dead star cools and fades away.

The study’s co-authors, David Bennett of the University of Maryland and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center suggest moving to the moons of Jupiter and Saturn might be worth considering assuming humanity still exists.

However, this does not immediately solve the problem. Because humans can’t rely on heat from the Sun as a white dwarf for very long, writes David Bennett.
