Disney World hours shortened due to coronavirus

Walt Disney World will shorten the opening hours of its theme parks starting in September.

After being closed for a few months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Florida parks reopened in July with new health and safety procedures. On September 8, the hours of Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot will be reduced.

Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom will close an hour earlier than usual, and Epcot will close two hours earlier.

Since reopening Walt Disney World in July, it has reduced capacity, added improved cleaning procedures, and required customers to wear face masks inside the park. Disney last month banned eating and drinking while walking, as some customers were using it as a loophole not to wear masks while moving through parks with food or drink.

On Tuesday, Disney executives revealed in an appeal to investors that the closure of its theme parks due to the coronavirus pandemic had had a huge impact on the company. Revenue fell 40% to $ 11.7 billion, while diluted earnings per share for the quarter fell 94% to 8 cents, from $ 1.34 in the same period a year earlier. Wall Street had forecast earnings of $ 12.39 billion on adjusted losses per share of 63 cents. Much to blame was the collapse in theme park activity, resulting in a $ 3.5 billion impact on operating profit and a $ 2 billion loss.

Here are the new hours of Disney World:

Animal Kingdom: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hollywood Studios: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Epcot: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Magic Kingdom: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
