In addition, in September this year, it plans to release the long-awaited big-budget action film Mulan in its Disney + streaming service. It was supposed to appear in cinemas in March, but due to closed cinemas, the launch was postponed several times. It will now be available to watch online.

American users of the Disney + video library will pay $ 30 (about 660 crowns) for watching Mulan. The price for a film will vary from country to country. Of course, there is a prepaid Disney + service, which costs seven dollars a month (about 155 crowns).

Streaming as hope

The decision to skip most of the world’s cinemas and go straight to the stream has been fueled by uncertainty about the reopening of large US cinema chains. In countries where Disney + is not available, the film will be shown directly in cinemas.

Next year, Walt Disney plans to launch a new streaming service outside the United States. The new service will operate under the Star brand and will stream a wider range of content than Disney +. The company said Disney + had already attracted 60.5 million subscribers.

The company launched Disney + last November in the US and later expanded the service to other markets, including the United Kingdom. Due to coronavirus, Walt Disney is pushing for streaming more than ever. It tries to compete with Netflix, Amazon and other streaming sites.

Disney said it has more than 100 million subscribers on its website, where it operates videos on demand, with the option of watching a selected video without a prescribed television program for a fee. These include ESPN +, Hulu for the general public and Hotstar in India.

The new international service will be strongly similar to Hulu. It will offer material from across the Disney Empire, which also includes ABC TV, movies from the famous 20th Century Studios and the SearchLight Pictures distribution network.

According to PP Foresight analyst Paolo Pescatore, the profits from Disney streaming are impressive, but if the service wants to remain competitive, it will be necessary to continue adding new shows and content. The streaming service is not yet profitable. This part of the company recorded an operating loss of about $ 700 million this quarter.
