From his Twitter account, the doctor explained that he was meeting the staff and would meet with the Comude de los Cocodes to discuss the vaccine during a visit to the Chisec Health Center, Alta Verapaz.

“The Chisec situation is more difficult than I had anticipated. It is one of the municipalities with the least coverage of Covid-19 vaccination in the entire Republic. They do not reach 10% coverage. People do not want to be vaccinated. The misinformation has done a lot of damage ”, he stressed.

DISINFORMATION AROUND VACCINATION

Páez stressed that the person in charge of the Health Center told him that the neighbors refuse to be vaccinated because they have read misinformation about it on the Facebook social network, such as that a 5G chip will be installed, that their DNA will be altered, that the injection contains poison. or the virus, which the authorities seek to reduce the world population and “which is the mark of the beast.”

For this reason, he stressed to the Health personnel that in these cases cultural relevance becomes more relevant.

Midwives, firefighters and religious leaders attended the meeting in which the pediatrician participated.

MOST LEADERS DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE VACCINE AND USEFULNESS OF THE MASK

In fact, she added that most leaders do not believe in the vaccine or in the usefulness of the mask.

To talk with them they had the support of a Q’eqchi ‘language translator. Among the concerns of the population, some doubts arose that I try to resolve.

“Several said they were grateful that the vaccine had not been fully explained to them. And several of them said they understood that the vaccine looked good. It seems to me that there is an important influence of some religious leaders who are against the vaccine ”, he highlighted.
