Discover the ranking of towns and villages where life is good

The JDD has unveiled the 2021 ranking of cities and villages where people live the best in France.
For the second edition, 34,837 municipalities in mainland France were compared on the basis of 183 criteria. For example, here are some elements governing this classification: quality of life, safety, transport, health or sports and leisure.

Concerning the cities (of + 2000 inhabitants), Annecy, in Haute-Savoie, comes out big winner followed by Bayonne and Angers who complete the podium. Concerning the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Lyon point to the 56th position, only one unit from Paris. Saint-Étienne wins this turf war with a 20th position. There are also other cities in the region in this ranking: Villeurbanne (112th), Bron (144th), Caluire (176th), Vaulx-en-Velin (220th), Saint-Priest (226th), Vénissieux (227th), Oullins (276th), Rillieux (310th), Tassin-la-Demi-Lune (316th), Écully (413rd), Saint-Genis-Laval (429th), Francheville (435th) and Sainte-Foy-Lès-Lyon (495th) .

Among the French villages where we live best, it is Peltre, in Moselle, which occupies the first place. Behind, Guéthary, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Épron in Calvados closed the podium.

Saint-Romain-au-mont-d’Or (115th), Rochetaillée-sur-Saône (130th), Sainte-Consorce (329th), Fleurieu-sur-Saône (333rd) and Saint-Romain-en-Gal (495th) are in this top 500.
