Discover the first country to celebrate welcoming the new year 2023

Countries around the world are preparing to celebrate New Year 2023 with parades and fireworks attended by a large number of people, especially after the easing of Covid-19 related measures in many countries.

Samoa and Kiribati, located in the South Pacific Ocean, are the first two countries to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2023, according to National Geographic.

Kiritiamti Island, the largest island in Kiribati and home to around 5,000 people, is the first inhabited island to receive New Year’s Eve every year, while Samoa receives New Year’s Day two hours earlier than Australia, according to Sky News Arabia.

Reports indicate that tourists will be able to join the celebrations to be staged in both Samoa and Kiribati, after being barred from doing so for the past two years due to restrictions from the emerging Corona virus.
